Nguyễn Công Hoài’s paintings explore feminine strength through intimate portrayals of women. For the past seven years, his practice has focused on the experiences of his wife and children, reflecting the evolving journey of motherhood. Each work captures a distinct emotional state, from solitude to stillness and grace.

Hoài often portrays the body in motion, translating the subtle gestures of daily life into painterly meditations on resilience and tenderness. The title of his ongoing series comes from a Vietnamese proverb, “Men go to sea in pairs; women go to sea alone,” a reflection on the courage and independence of women in the face of life’s vast uncertainties.
