About

Ầu Ơ is rooted in the work of Vietnam’s postwar generation, artists of traditional training, while also looking forward to the voices of young and diasporic artists of today. The collection spans paintings, drawings, sculptures, editions, and time-based media.

Named after a lullaby that evokes memory, love, and the passage between generations, Ầu Ơ reflects the dialogue between a mother and daughter with different perspectives, united in a shared vision of re-engaging with the community that’s here and holding fast to art that speaks to where you come from.

Our program includes organizing exhibitions locally and internationally, publishing essays, interviews, and stories, and hosting guided tours and gatherings. We broaden the ways artists and audiences meet, and diversify the narratives of Vietnamese art.
